Matching frame material to purpose is equally important as getting the geometry spot on. The new GranFondo frameset is an excellent example of this philosophy. Carbon may be the latest fashion, but alloy tubes can do some things just as well, if not better than the Black wonder material.

Scandium is the ideal material for a frame that needs to be responsive and lively, but retain some resiliance to cushion the blows of a long distance ride. 
Kinesis have used Easton ‘GX2’, Flared,Taperwall tubing, the flared section at the headtube helps to avoid lateral flex and give a really direct steering feel, whilst the tapered butting keeps things light and reliable for years of use. Scandium has the ‘spring’ of steel but with the light weight of advanced alloy.
Carbon plays it’s part too, the ‘carbon strutt’ seat stays and Selcof carbon post take out some road buzz and the carbon fork is tuned and shaped for some vertical compliance whilst keeping that direct handling feel.
We all know that Sportives are not a ‘race’, but there is certainly a competition element in there! The GranFondo has plenty of ‘race bike feel’, it’s no slack angled tourer, but the geometry is designed to be forgiving over the distance, with longer [but not too long] headtubes and chainstays.

The GranFondo is a versatile frameset too, with mudgaurd eyelets on frame and fork & rack mounts. The frame/fork are designed for short [39-49mm] brakes, allowing ample choice of high end componentry.

This is a performance ‘cross frame with unique features that make it a true all round performer built to last.

 This adaptable ‘cross frame shares the race winning geometry of the EVO4 and Pro5 but is built using lightweight, Kinesis Double Butted, 7005 series, alloy tubing. The frame has the unique Kinesis ‘Ergo’ top tube, it is lightened and profiled to fit your shoulder, making it more comfortable for carrying over longer distances. The tube is also wider where it meets the seat tube, helping to resist twisting forces along the front triangle.

The FiveT is often loaded up and used as a tourer and Kinesis have added a discrete gusset under the headtube for increased durability at this point. 

The FiveT delivers high performance at an entry level price, it’s ideal for the rider who is new to the sport but has the potential to progress to elite level competition.

The FiveT features ‘aStay’ chainstays and although designed primarily as a 'crosser, it has clearance for 3 rings, twin bottle mounts, rack and mudguard eyelets and an eyeletted alloy fork option. These features mean it performs equally well as a ‘crosser, tough tourer, commuter or all three!

The lightweight Racelight Tk2 winter training frame has all the proven details of the Racelight T2 but uses advanced, smooth welded, Kinesium tubing to make it one of the lightest and most responsive winter trainers available. Using the proven race inspired geometry of the Racelight T2, the Racelight Tk2 takes the winter training frame to a new level, and by using advanced Kinesium alloy, Kinesis have bought the weight of this frame down to 1.46kg for the 54cm size.

Both the ‘T2’ and ‘Tk2’ use longer headtubes for a more upright riding position and have rack mounts and ample clearance for full size ‘gaurds and larger winter tyres [long reach brakes required]. The top tube is ‘power bulged’ at the headtube for maximum stiffness and the oversize, thin-wall down tube is aero section at the top and ovalised where it meets the BB for maximum weld area and response. The ‘hourglass’ seatstays give maximum comfort for long training rides and the oversize chainstays and large downtube area at the BB keep power loss to a minimum.

Kinesium

Kinesium is enhanced 6000 series Aluminium alloy, which is 25% stronger than 6061 at the same weight level, manufactured in house at the Kinesis factory, it gives fantastic value for money. Kinesium's properties make it an ideal material for a very light, tough, responsive frame at an affordable price.

 Kinesis never stop developing their frames and their ultimate 'cross frame strengthens it’s dominance this season with a competition proven ‘Carbon/Kinesium/Easton Hybrid’ frame construction and fully re-profiled ‘Ergo2’ top tube.

The ‘Hybrid’ frame construction optimises frame performance by matching construction material to specific frame area. The lightweight, 'PropulsionCrosstay' carbon wishbone gives class beating tyre clearance, whilst adding lateral stiffness and compliance to the rear triangle. 
The new ‘Ergo2’ top tube is formed from Kinesium, this tubing has built a reputation for lightweight coupled to durability, responsiveness and superb ride quality. The tube has been lightened and re-profiled, making it even more comfortable for carrying over longer distances often found in European 'cross racing. it is wider and deeper where it meets the seat tube, helping to resist twisting forces along the front triangle.
The down tube and seat tube are ‘Easton Ultralite Taperwall’, this tubing is super durable and lightweight with an unparalleled racing heritage. The downtube is lighter and smaller diameter, to once again help picking up and carrying, it is ovalised where it meets the BB and head tube for maximum weld area and stiffness. 
Cable routing for the rear mech and brake is on the RHS of the frame for smooth changing and carrying and the rear mech. cable clips neatly out of the way on the wishbone.
aStay
An oversize drive side chainstay enhances acceleration and helps get the power down when out of the saddle. The aStay system allows us to keep the back end light without compromising response and stiffness.
