Mosquito Bikes was established as a bicycle workshop in Bradbury Street, Dalston in 1984 and has been part of the cycling community ever since. Initially the shop concentrated on repairs and servicing but as the late 1980’s mountain bike boom kicked in we moved into bike sales, we were one of the first shops to take on brands such as Trek and Marin when they first came into the UK.
We moved to our current premises on Essex Road, Islington, in 1988. It’s fair to say we’ve done almost everything in the cycling industry in the 30 years we have been going and it’s given us the ability to spot the difference between a fad and a genuine innovation.
Mosquito has been owned and managed by Gill, Roger and Phil for the past 26 years. Bike riders all our lives – commuting, touring, racing. We believe the years of experience and expertise we can offer our customers is invaluable.
Roger attended the Serotta International Cycling Institute (SICI) bike fitting course in 2002 and became one of the first fully qualified bike fitters in the UK. Soon the custom brands began to follow: Pegoretti, Independent Fabrication, Moots, Zullo, Alchemy, Guru and many more. In 2009 Phil took the SICI fitting course, as did Gill in 2012, giving us three fully qualified fitters with a wealth of experience.
Over the last decade we have built a range of brands in the shop which we are very proud of and offer a selection that is second to none. Along the way we have built great relationships and friendships with the likes of Moots, Independent Fabrication, Pegoretti, Zullo, Alchemy and Guru. It’s a pleasure to work with such great bikes and to know we are providing our customers with such unique products.
Mosquito has always been owned and staffed by enthusiastic cyclists and between us we’ve toured, raced, commuted and everything in between. Today we have one of the largest portfolios of custom brands in the UK and would be delighted if you’d like to share in our passion.
